In the summer of 2018, a friend of mine from high school - one of the most genuinely kind people I have met - suddenly and inexplicably passed away.  Our entire community was affected by it, and I personally felt the need to process the thought of losing someone so young.  Dedicated to his memory, Elegy for Michael is the result of that processing; it is a reflection upon what is and is not important in life.

Elegy for Michael was premiered in November 2018 by the HELIX! New Music Ensemble, conducted by Kynan Johns, at le poisson rouge in New York City.  A recording of this performance can be found below:
